About the marshes of Valkmusa National Park
Valkmusa National Park is a comparatively lesser-known national park in Kymenlaakso, but due to its smaller size and slightly lower recognition, it is a wonderful natural destination, where marshes and marshy landscape and marshy nature are the determining factors.
In Valkmusa National Park, you can especially experience the Finnish seasons. In spring, you can experience the park through the spring migration of birds, and similarly in summer, for example before Midsummer, through the scents when the flowers and brings a strong scent for passers-by to smell. Geckos and the park's several species of butterflies also delight passers-by. In the autumn, you can experience autumn in the park in many wonderful different colors. In winter, with sufficient snow cover and frost permitting, you can experience and see bogs from a completely new perspective, which is not possible at other times of the year. In winter, skiing with e.g. wideskishoes or just moving around with snowshoes in the marshy areas of park brings a completely different perspective and the opportunity to see and experience the wonderful marshland landscape.
About the excursion
The excursion starts from the agreed starting point of the national park. During the excursion, the guide tells about the history of the area, the nature of the marshes, the marshes and life, and especially the birds of the area. There will be a lunch break during the excursion. The route starting from the Simonsaari parking area goes through the trail, which is approx. 2.3 km long. The route is a circular route that is easy to navigate.
The route starting from the Suonlinnantie parking area is approx. 5 km long, and the route is the same when travelling to and bac the Moronvuori day-use hut.
Times, places and number of participants
All times are possible for the excursion. We especially recommend may, when the nature is getting green, the spring migration of birds is underway and there are plenty of birds in the marshes of Valkmusa during the spring migration break. Correspondingly, autumn during the fall migration of birds is a wonderful time when the marshes show several different colors.
The starting and ending times of the excursion can be agreed upon, we recommend starting the excursion at, for example, 09:00 and ending around 12:00 - 13:00.
The starting and ending point of the excursion is basically the Valkmusa National Park Simonsaari parking lot at Vastilantie 886, 49290 Pyhtää. Alternatively, the start and end of the tour can also be Suolinnantie parking lot at Suolinnantie 740, 48410 Pyhtää.
The trip can be implemented for groups of different sizes.

Osallistujalla tulisi olla tukevat ja hyvin pitävät jalkineet koska vaikka sää olisi aurinkoinen saattaa maastossa olla kosteutta. Keväällä lumien sulamisesta johtuen suolla voi "tulvia" ja pitkospuut saattavat osittain olla jopa veden peitossa. Säänmukainen vaatetus tekee retkestä miellyttävän ja repussa olisi hyvä olla nestettä ja energiapitoista evästä.
The participant should have sturdy and well-fitting footwear because even if the weather is sunny, there may be moisture in the terrain. In the spring, due to the melting of the snow, the swamp may "flood" and the duckborsds may even be partly covered in water. Weather-appropriate clothing makes the trip pleasant, and it would be good to have liquids and energy-rich fins in the backpack.
