The Liiturin kiito is closed for the time being for the 2025-2026 season. An even thicker and more load-bearing layer of snow is expected in the terrain. A map and information board at the start of the trail, as well as trail markings, have not been installed.

Trails

The snowshoe trails currently consists of one ring route, which starts at the entrance of Tervajärvi. A total of two circular trail and a connecting trail connecting these are planned for the snowshoe trail.

The Liiturin kiito, a 3.6 km long ring trail begins at the entrance of Tervajärvi.

The Käppärin kiepsaus is a 3.6 km long ring trail that starts nearby of the Kapiavesi campfire and tent place. Lapinsalmi parking lot is about 1 km from the starting point of the trail. The starting point must not be rectified over lake Kapiavesi because the ice is not strong enough.

The ring trails are connected by a 900 m long connecting trail, the Sourun suora. The Sourun suora allows users to be longer, e.g. an overnight winter hiking trail suitable for an overnight excursion.

There is at least one national park place for campfires and tenst, along the Liiturin kiito and Käppärin kiepsaus trails. The trais are only intended to be carried with snowshoes or wideski shoes.

The trails is designed and implemented by Metsähallitus' contract entrepreneur Eränen nature tourism company with the permission of Metsähallitus. The company is also responsible for maintaining the trails.

The Käppärin kiepsaus and the Sourun suora are planned but the trails have not been implemented. The possible opening of these trails will be announced separately.
