Metsähallitus will restore e.g. forests, small areas of water and also swamps. The economic forests in the Repovesi area will be returned to their natural state, e.g. with small openings and restoration burns. Restoration starts from the beginning of the forest's natural development and increases the range of living species that especially benefit from rotting wood.
In the national park, the restoration of the small water has also been carried out, whereby the previously opened sections of the rapids have been returned to a natural state by moving stones back into the stream. Efforts have also been made to return the large open spring in the park to its natural state. In connection with the restoration of small bodies of water, ditches in drained marshes are also dammed. By damming the ditches, the aim is to increase e.g. curd moss.
In the area south of reoad Sikoniemi, the ditch in the swamp has been dammed. At the same time, trees were cut down with their roots, which also resulted in a small opening and produced rotten wood. On the south side of road Sikoniementie, several restorations have been carried out at the same time, with the aim of e.g. to free up growth space for deciduous trees.
